At Canoe  Sport Coaching we can take you on a development journey in Canoe or Kayak. We offer the very latest British Canoeing Awards, ranging from the new Paddle Awards – Start – Discover and Explore, onwards to the Personal Performance Awards Canoe and Kayak Awards.

These new awards have replaced the previous 1 – 5 star awards and really see the paddler at the heart of the progression. • Each of the 12 disciplines has three awards. • Five new disciplines have been introduced including Stand Up Paddleboard, Polo, Racing, Rafting and Slalom, which means there is something for everyone. With a range of different environments and crafts, this enables the individual to make choices on the type of craft and environment they wish to paddle. • All of the awards are direct entry. Paddlers can choose which award they would like to work towards, developing their skills and decision making. • There are no direct links to Coaching and Leadership qualifications as prerequisites. The awards do provide appropriate milestones and acknowledgement of personal skills, setting up the paddler appropriately for British Canoeing Coaching and Leadership qualifications. • There are no age restrictions for any of the awards. Providers should check paddlers’ suitability, as well as having appropriate mechanisms for anyone under 18. • All of the awards have been created and written with the paddler at the heart of the content and creates empowerment and ownership

Paddle Awards

If you are looking at getting involved with paddling for the first time or want to use the new Paddle Awards to measure your progression we can help you achieve your goals.

The new British Canoeing Paddle Awards launched in January 2019 give aspirant paddlers the opportunity to get involved and learn the skills without limits. You can enter the awards at any level, depending on experience, and there is no age limit. The awards are craft specific.

The new personal performance awards are not directly linked to the British canoeing coaching and leadershīp awards.

The process of completing the awards is based on learning and, as such, the ethos of ‘supporting the paddler’ is the main focus of all the awards, encouraging individuals in their development.

All of the awards are direct entry. Paddlers can choose which award they would like to work towards, developing their skills and decision making. • There are no direct links to Coaching and Leadership qualifications as prerequisites. The awards do provide appropriate milestones and acknowledgement of personal skills, setting up the paddler appropriately for British Canoeing Coaching and Leadership qualifications. • There are no age restrictions for any of the awards. • All of the awards have been created and written with the paddler at the heart of the content and creates empowerment and ownership.

White Water – White Water Award  – Progressive White Water Award

Touring – Touring Award Open Water –  Touring Award Multi Day Touring Award

Duration: Training Courses generally last two days although this can be tailored to the individual.
